## Chapter 1: Brooklyn Brothers

Mario and Luigi were brothers, best friends, and plumbers.

They lived in Brooklyn, where the streets were noisy, the buildings were tall, and almost everyone seemed to have an opinion about everything. Mario was used to that. He was shorter than many people expected, louder than some people liked, and more determined than anyone could stop.

Luigi was different. He was taller, gentler, and easier to scare. But he had one kind of courage that mattered most: when Mario needed him, Luigi stayed.

Together, they had started their own plumbing business.

It was not going well yet.

Their van was bright and cheerful. Their commercial had big smiles, big promises, and a song that could get stuck in a person’s head for days. Mario thought it was perfect. Luigi hoped people liked it. Their old boss, Spike, thought it was ridiculous.

Spike had once been in charge of them. Now he laughed whenever he saw them trying to build something of their own.

Mario tried not to let it bother him.

It bothered him anyway.

At home, things were not much easier. Mario and Luigi ate dinner with their family, surrounded by voices, plates, questions, and jokes. Their mother loved them. Their relatives teased them. Their father worried.

He did not say Mario was bad.

That would have been easier.

He said Mario was chasing something too big. He said Luigi followed Mario into trouble. He said being brave did not pay bills.

Mario stared at his plate.

Luigi looked at his brother and wished he knew how to fix a heart the way they fixed pipes.

Later, the brothers got a call for a real job. A family needed help with a plumbing problem, and Mario saw their chance. This was it. If they did the job right, people would know the Super Mario Brothers were serious.

The job did not go perfectly.

Actually, it went terribly.

A little dog made sure of that.

The dog was small, angry, and fast. It chased them through the house while pipes sprayed, tools clattered, and Luigi apologized to furniture. Mario tried to save the job, but by the time they escaped, they were wet, exhausted, and not much closer to success.

Still, Mario refused to quit.

That night, a huge water main break appeared on the news. Brooklyn streets were flooding. Workers were struggling. People needed help.

Mario leaned closer to the television.

Luigi recognized the look on his face.

It was the look that meant, “We are about to do something dangerous.”

Luigi did not want to go into dark tunnels under the city. He did not want to crawl through pipes while water rushed around them. He definitely did not want to become part of a rescue that was not technically their job.

But Mario was already grabbing his tools.

Luigi grabbed his too.

The brothers hurried into the stormy streets and down into the hidden places beneath Brooklyn. The tunnels were huge and old. Water roared through the darkness. Their flashlight beams shook across brick walls and metal pipes.

Mario pushed forward.

Luigi stayed close.

They found more than a broken water main.

They found an enormous pipe unlike anything either of them had ever seen. It was green, strange, and glowing with a deep light from inside.

Mario stepped toward it.

Luigi reached for him.

The pipe pulled.

The world twisted.

The brothers shouted as light, color, and wind spun around them. For one wild second, Mario saw Luigi beside him.

Then Luigi was gone.

Mario tumbled through impossible space, reaching for his brother and catching only air.

Their biggest adventure had begun.

And they were not together.

## Chapter 1 Summary

Mario and Luigi are struggling plumbers in Brooklyn who want their new business to succeed. Mario feels judged by Spike and misunderstood by his father, while Luigi remains loyal even when he is scared. After seeing a major water main break on the news, the brothers go underground to help. They discover a mysterious glowing pipe, get pulled inside, and are separated.

## Chapter 2: The Pipe That Split the Team

Mario landed in a field of giant mushrooms.

For a moment, he lay still, staring up at a sky that was much too bright and colorful to belong under Brooklyn.

Then he sat up.

Mushrooms stood like trees all around him. Some were red with white spots. Some were blue, yellow, or green. Hills rolled in smooth shapes. Floating blocks hung in the air as if gravity had forgotten to finish its job.

Mario slowly stood.

“Luigi?” he called.

No answer came.

Only a cheerful voice from nearby said that he probably should not touch the blue mushroom unless he knew what it did.

Mario spun around.

A small mushroom person stood on the path. He wore a bright cap, carried a little pack, and looked at Mario with interest instead of fear.

His name was Toad.

Toad knew the land. He knew the paths, the dangers, the shortcuts, and which mushrooms were helpful instead of alarming. When Mario explained that he had lost his brother, Toad became serious at once.

There were many kingdoms connected by strange paths.

If Luigi had not landed here, he could have landed somewhere far worse.

Mario’s heart tightened.

He needed help.

Toad led him toward the biggest building in sight: Peach’s castle. The Mushroom Kingdom spread around it in bright colors and busy streets. Toads hurried everywhere. Some carried tools. Some carried baskets. Some stopped to stare at Mario, because humans were not exactly common there.

At the castle, Mario met Princess Peach.

She was not what he expected.

She wore a crown, but she did not wait for someone else to solve problems. She studied maps, gave orders, and moved like someone who had trained for emergencies her whole life. When Mario told her about Luigi, Peach listened carefully.

Then she told him the danger was bigger than one lost brother.

Bowser, king of the Koopas, had found a Super Star. With its power, he could threaten every kingdom. He wanted Peach to marry him, and if she refused, he planned to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom.

Mario did not understand everything about stars, kingdoms, or giant turtle kings.

But he understood one thing.

Luigi was in danger.

Far away, Luigi was having the worst day of his life.

He had landed in the Dark Lands.

There were no cheerful mushroom trees there. The sky was black and red. Dead branches clawed at the air. Lava glowed in the distance. Strange sounds crept through the shadows.

Luigi ran.

He ran from dry bones that rattled after him. He ran from falling rocks. He ran from every shape that moved in the darkness. His legs were shaking, but he kept going, calling Mario’s name whenever he had enough breath.

Then Bowser’s soldiers found him.

Luigi was captured and taken to Bowser’s fortress, a place of spikes, chains, fire, and thunderous music. Bowser was enormous. His shell was covered with spikes. His claws scraped the floor. His voice filled the room.

Bowser learned Luigi was Mario’s brother.

That made Luigi useful.

Bowser already believed Mario might become a problem. If Mario cared about Luigi, then Luigi could be used as a threat.

Luigi was locked away with other prisoners. He was frightened, but he was not alone. Around him were creatures from other lands, all trapped because Bowser wanted power and attention.

Back in the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach prepared to travel. She needed allies strong enough to stand against Bowser’s army. That meant asking the Kongs for help.

Mario wanted to come.

Peach studied him. He was brave, yes. Determined, absolutely. But bravery alone would not survive the road ahead.

So she gave him a chance to prove he could train.

Mario looked at the obstacle course before him. Platforms rose and fell. Fire bars spun. Blocks hovered. Gaps waited below.

Mario swallowed.

Then he ran.

He fell.

He got up.

He fell again.

He got up again.

Peach watched. Toad cheered. Mario kept trying until his legs ached and his gloves were scuffed.

He was not the best hero in the kingdom.

Not yet.

But he would not quit.

And somewhere in the Dark Lands, Luigi was waiting for him.

## Chapter 2 Summary

Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom and meets Toad, who brings him to Princess Peach. Peach explains that Bowser has the Super Star and is threatening the kingdom. Luigi lands in the Dark Lands, is captured by Bowser’s forces, and becomes Bowser’s prisoner. Mario begins training with Peach so he can help rescue Luigi and stop Bowser.

## Chapter 3: Training in the Mushroom Kingdom

Mario learned quickly that the Mushroom Kingdom looked friendly, but it was not easy.

Blocks floated just out of reach. Platforms moved when he least expected it. Mushrooms could help, hurt, or surprise him. Fire swung in circles. Gaps appeared where a normal floor should have been.

Peach moved through the training course as if she had been born leaping.

Mario moved through it as if the course had a personal grudge against him.

He jumped too early.

He jumped too late.

He landed on his face, his back, his side, and once in a place that Toad insisted was technically a shortcut even though it looked like a bush.

Each time, Mario stood up.

Peach noticed.

Many people were brave at the start. Fewer stayed brave after failing again and again.

Mario stayed.

As the sun lowered over the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach told him more about herself. She had not always known where she came from. Long ago, when she was a baby, she arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom through a strange path. The Toads found her, cared for her, and raised her as one of their own. When she grew older, they trusted her to lead.

Mario listened closely.

He knew what it felt like to want to prove where you belonged.

The next morning, Peach, Mario, and Toad set out for the Jungle Kingdom. They needed the Kongs. Bowser’s army was too large for the Mushroom Kingdom to face alone.

Their journey took them through wild lands that seemed stitched together from every dream Mario had never had. They crossed bridges over clouds, rode platforms across sparkling drops, and hurried past creatures that Toad helpfully identified after they had already tried to bite someone.

Mario kept thinking of Luigi.

Was he cold? Was he hurt? Was he scared?

Mario knew the answer to the last one.

Luigi was definitely scared.

But Luigi was also his brother, and Mario would find him.

In Bowser’s fortress, Luigi tried to be brave in a very Luigi way.

He did not shout threats. He did not rattle the bars. He did not pretend he had a plan when he did not.

Instead, he listened.

He heard guards talking about Bowser’s wedding plans. He heard prisoners whispering about the Super Star. He heard that Peach was the only person standing between Bowser and the Mushroom Kingdom.

Luigi wished he could warn Mario.

He wished he could warn anyone.

Bowser, meanwhile, practiced being terrifying and romantic, which were two things that did not mix well. He imagined Peach admiring him. He imagined the kingdoms bowing. He imagined Mario gone.

His adviser, Kamek, helped prepare the flying castle. Bowser wanted everything grand, loud, and impossible to ignore.

That was Bowser’s favorite kind of plan.

At last, Peach, Mario, and Toad reached the Jungle Kingdom.

It was enormous.

Trees rose higher than towers. Vines hung like ropes. Waterfalls thundered into deep pools. And everywhere, Kongs leaped, climbed, shouted, laughed, and showed off.

The ruler was Cranky Kong.

He was old, sharp-eyed, and not easily impressed.

Peach asked for an alliance.

Cranky Kong listened, then made his decision. He would help if Mario could defeat his son, Donkey Kong, in combat.

Mario looked across the arena.

Donkey Kong was huge, strong, and smiling like this was going to be the funniest part of his day.

Toad winced.

Peach stood calmly.

Mario stepped forward because Luigi needed him.

The crowd roared.

The fight began.

## Chapter 3 Summary

Mario trains with Peach and keeps trying even when he fails. Peach shares that she came to the Mushroom Kingdom as a baby and was raised by the Toads. Peach, Mario, and Toad travel to the Jungle Kingdom to ask the Kongs for help. Meanwhile, Luigi listens from prison as Bowser prepares his plans. Cranky Kong agrees to help only if Mario can defeat Donkey Kong.

## Chapter 4: Donkey Kong and the Jungle King

The arena shook with cheering.

Kongs filled every seat, clapping, stomping, and chanting for Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong loved it. He flexed his arms, flashed a proud grin, and waved to the crowd like the fight had already been won.

Mario stood across from him and tried not to look as small as he felt.

Donkey Kong charged.

Mario dodged once.

Then Donkey Kong hit him.

Mario flew across the arena and bounced off the ground. The crowd cheered louder. Donkey Kong laughed. Cranky Kong looked bored.

Peach watched carefully.

Toad covered his eyes, then peeked between his fingers.

Mario got up.

Donkey Kong hit him again.

The fight went that way for a while.

Mario was brave, but Donkey Kong was stronger, faster, and used to fighting in front of a crowd. Mario needed something more than stubbornness.

Then a power-up appeared.

Mario grabbed it.

A soft flash wrapped around him. When it faded, Mario was wearing a cat suit, complete with ears, paws, and a tail.

The arena went quiet.

Then Donkey Kong laughed harder than before.

Mario felt his face grow hot.

But the suit was not silly for long.

With sharp claws and quick reflexes, Mario scrambled up walls, sprang from platforms, and moved in ways Donkey Kong did not expect. The crowd’s laughter changed into surprised shouts. Donkey Kong swung, but Mario flipped past him. Mario climbed, bounced, and finally struck with everything he had.

Donkey Kong fell.

The arena exploded with noise.

Mario had won.

Donkey Kong did not enjoy losing.

Cranky Kong did not enjoy admitting anyone else had impressed him.

But a deal was a deal. The Kongs would help Peach defend the Mushroom Kingdom.

Soon, the Jungle Kingdom became a workshop of wheels, engines, and wild ideas. Karts rolled out in every size and color. Some were sleek. Some were heavy. Some looked as if they had been built during a very exciting accident.

Mario, Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong, and the Kong army prepared to race back to the Mushroom Kingdom.

The road they would take was not an ordinary road.

It was Rainbow Road.

It curved through the sky in shining colors, stretching over clouds and stars. To Mario, it was beautiful.

To Luigi, if he had been there, it would have been a nightmare with guardrails.

The karts launched forward.

Engines roared. Wheels sparked. The Kongs whooped with joy. Donkey Kong drove near Mario, pretending not to respect him. Mario pretended not to notice.

For a little while, it felt like they might make it.

Then Bowser’s army attacked.

Koopas swarmed the road in armored vehicles. Shells flew. Fire flashed. Karts spun. Peach shouted orders as the road became a twisting battlefield in the sky.

Mario fought from his kart. Donkey Kong smashed enemies aside. Peach drove with fearless skill, keeping Toad safe while leading the charge.

Then a blue-shelled Koopa General appeared.

He sped forward with terrible purpose and crashed into Rainbow Road itself.

The explosion shattered part of the track.

Karts flew in every direction.

Mario and Donkey Kong fell.

Down they dropped, away from the road, away from Peach, away from the battle, and into the ocean far below.

Peach could not turn back.

The Kongs were captured.

Bowser’s army was coming.

And the Mushroom Kingdom had very little time left.

## Chapter 4 Summary

Mario fights Donkey Kong in the Jungle Kingdom arena. Donkey Kong overpowers him at first, but Mario uses a Cat Suit power-up to win. Cranky Kong agrees to help, and the heroes race toward the Mushroom Kingdom with the Kong army on Rainbow Road. Bowser’s army ambushes them, the blue-shelled Koopa General destroys part of the road, the Kongs are captured, and Mario and Donkey Kong fall into the ocean.

## Chapter 5: Trouble on Rainbow Road

Mario hit the ocean hard.

For a moment there was only blue water, bubbles, and the heavy silence of sinking.

Then Donkey Kong splashed nearby, waving his arms angrily as if the ocean had insulted him.

Mario swam toward the surface, but a shadow moved beneath them.

It was enormous.

A giant eel rose from the deep and swallowed them both.

Inside the eel, everything was wet, dark, and unpleasant. Broken pieces of karts lay around them, including parts of Donkey Kong’s vehicle. Mario coughed, stood, and looked for a way out.

Donkey Kong was furious.

He blamed Mario.

Mario blamed the giant eel.

Neither answer helped.

For a while, they argued. Donkey Kong thought Mario was too small to be important. Mario thought Donkey Kong acted big because he was trying to impress everyone. That made Donkey Kong quiet in a way Mario did not expect.

Inside the belly of a giant eel, with no crowd watching, Donkey Kong admitted something without exactly admitting it.

He wanted his father to be proud of him.

Mario understood that feeling too well.

He wanted the same thing from his own father.

The two were not friends yet.

But they were no longer only rivals.

They found a rocket barrel from Donkey Kong’s kart. It looked dangerous, which meant it was probably their best chance. Together, they climbed onto it and blasted out of the eel with a roar of fire and bubbles.

They shot toward the sky.

Back at the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach and Toad arrived with terrible news. Bowser’s army was coming. The Kongs had been captured. Mario was missing. Donkey Kong was missing too.

Peach did not have time to fall apart.

She ordered the citizens to evacuate. Toads hurried through the streets, carrying children, supplies, and as many important mushrooms as they could manage. Peach stayed calm because everyone else needed her to be calm.

Then Bowser’s flying castle arrived.

It blotted out the sky.

Bowser stood before Peach with all his power behind him. He wanted her to agree to marry him. If she refused, he would use his power to hurt the kingdom and the people she loved.

Peach saw Toad in danger.

She saw the kingdom trapped below.

So she made a choice that hurt.

She agreed, but only to buy time.

Bowser was delighted. He imagined a perfect wedding, with music, flames, prisoners, and everyone forced to admire him.

Peach began planning how to ruin it.

Toad stayed close. He was frightened, but brave in the small, steady way that mattered. He knew Peach needed help, and he was determined to give it.

In Bowser’s prison, Luigi heard the news.

A wedding.

A sacrifice.

A plan to show Peach all the prisoners Bowser had captured.

Luigi’s fear grew colder.

He did not know where Mario was.

He did not know if anyone was coming.

But he still believed Mario would try.

Somewhere above the ocean, Mario and Donkey Kong flew on a rocket barrel toward Bowser’s castle.

They had no army.

They had no careful plan.

They had one rocket, two stubborn hearts, and a kingdom to save.

For Mario, that was enough to start with.

## Chapter 5 Summary

Mario and Donkey Kong are swallowed by a giant eel after falling from Rainbow Road. Inside, they argue but also discover they both want their fathers’ respect. They escape using a rocket barrel. Meanwhile, Peach and Toad return to the Mushroom Kingdom, evacuate citizens, and face Bowser’s flying castle. Peach agrees to Bowser’s wedding demand only to protect her people and buy time.

## Chapter 6: A Wedding Trap

Bowser’s wedding was exactly the kind of wedding Bowser would plan.

It was huge, loud, dangerous, and mostly about Bowser.

His flying castle glowed with firelight. Chains hung over pools of lava. Soldiers stood in rows. Kamek floated proudly nearby, making sure every terrible detail was ready.

The prisoners were brought out.

Luigi was among them.

So were the captured Kongs.

Bowser wanted Peach to see his power. He wanted her to understand that refusing him would hurt everyone around her.

Peach walked forward in her wedding dress, calm on the outside and ready on the inside.

Toad had helped her prepare a secret.

Hidden in her bouquet was an Ice Flower.

The ceremony began.

Bowser smiled like he had already won.

Then Peach made her move.

She used the Ice Flower’s power. Frost burst across the platform. Bowser froze in place, shocked and furious. Ice raced along the chains holding the prisoners above danger.

Toad jumped into action.

The prisoners began to escape.

At that same moment, Mario and Donkey Kong crashed into the castle.

They did not arrive gracefully.

They arrived loudly.

That worked just fine.

Mario fought through Bowser’s soldiers while Donkey Kong smashed a path beside him. The Kongs broke free and joined the battle with joyful strength. Luigi saw Mario and felt hope rush through him so quickly that he almost forgot to be scared.

Almost.

Bowser shattered the ice around himself.

His rage filled the castle.

He had been embarrassed in front of everyone, and Bowser hated embarrassment almost as much as he loved power.

The battle became chaos. Fireballs flew. Platforms cracked. Kongs swung from chains. Toad darted between enemies with surprising speed. Peach kept fighting, not as someone waiting to be rescued, but as someone rescuing everyone else.

Mario saw Luigi in danger.

He grabbed a Tanooki Suit power-up and flew through the smoke and fire. With the suit’s tail and gliding power, he reached Luigi just in time.

The brothers crashed together onto a safer platform.

For one second, the whole battle seemed far away.

Mario had found Luigi.

Luigi had his brother back.

Then Bowser did something desperate.

He launched a Bomber Bill toward the Mushroom Kingdom.

The missile roared away from the castle, enormous and unstoppable. If it hit, the kingdom would be destroyed.

Mario ran after it.

Everyone shouted.

He leaped, climbed, and chased it through the sky, refusing to let the kingdom fall. At the last moment, he knocked the Bomber Bill off course and guided it toward the same kind of warp pipe that had started everything.

The missile vanished into the pipe.

For a heartbeat, there was silence.

Then the explosion opened a powerful pull between worlds.

Bowser’s castle, his army, the heroes, and pieces of the Mushroom Kingdom were dragged through the pipe.

The colors twisted.

The worlds bent.

And suddenly, the battle was no longer in the Mushroom Kingdom.

It was in Brooklyn.

## Chapter 6 Summary

Bowser stages a dangerous wedding ceremony with Luigi and the captured Kongs as prisoners. Peach uses a hidden Ice Flower to freeze Bowser and help the prisoners escape. Mario and Donkey Kong crash in and join the fight. Mario uses a Tanooki Suit to rescue Luigi. Bowser launches a Bomber Bill to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, but Mario redirects it into a warp pipe, pulling the castle and everyone into Brooklyn.

## Chapter 7: The Star in Brooklyn

Brooklyn was not ready for Bowser.

One moment, the street was ordinary. Cars sat parked by the curb. People looked out windows. A television flickered in a shop window.

The next moment, Bowser’s castle smashed into the city.

Bricks cracked. Smoke rolled. Koopas stumbled across the pavement. Kongs tumbled out of the chaos. Toads blinked at Brooklyn buildings. Brooklyn people stared back.

Mario landed hard.

Luigi landed nearby.

Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong were thrown across the street.

The Super Star bounced free in the wreckage, glowing with impossible power.

Mario saw it.

Bowser saw it too.

Mario ran.

Bowser reached him first.

The Koopa king was stronger than anything Mario had faced. He struck Mario again and again, driving him through debris and across the street. Mario tried to stand, but Bowser knocked him down.

Peach fought. Toad fought. Donkey Kong fought.

Bowser defeated them too.

For the first time since the pipe had taken him, Mario looked truly beaten.

He hid behind broken pieces of the street, breathing hard, bruised and afraid. Across from him, a television still played the brothers’ old plumbing commercial. Mario saw his own smiling face on the screen. He saw Luigi beside him. He remembered why they had started.

Not because everyone believed in them.

Because they believed in each other.

Mario stood.

Bowser prepared to finish him with fire.

Then Luigi moved.

Luigi, who was afraid of dark forests, skeleton turtles, lava castles, and almost everything else, lifted a manhole cover and ran between Bowser and Mario. He blocked the flames with shaking arms.

He was terrified.

He stood anyway.

Mario looked at his brother.

Together, they ran for the Super Star.

Their hands reached it at the same time.

Power burst around them.

Gold light wrapped around Mario and Luigi. The street glowed. The air hummed. The brothers stood side by side, shining with the Star’s power.

Bowser’s army charged.

The brothers charged back.

For a short, blazing moment, nothing could stop them. They knocked Koopas aside, smashed machines, and tore through Bowser’s forces together. Mario moved with bold strength. Luigi moved with nervous courage that had become something brighter.

Then they faced Bowser.

Bowser roared, but this time the brothers did not run.

They fought as a team, every jump and strike answering the other. Mario leaped high. Luigi followed. Together, they brought Bowser down.

The Star’s glow faded.

The street went quiet.

Peach used a Mini Mushroom to shrink Bowser down until the enormous king became very small and very angry. Toad made sure he was safely trapped where he could not hurt anyone.

Brooklyn erupted in cheers.

Mario and Luigi’s family pushed through the crowd. Their father stared at them, not with worry this time, but with amazement and pride.

Spike saw them too.

No joke came out.

Mario did not need one.

Luigi stood beside him, smiling.

The brothers had saved Brooklyn.

They had saved the Mushroom Kingdom.

And they had done it together.

## Chapter 7 Summary

Bowser’s castle and the final battle are pulled into Brooklyn. Bowser beats Mario badly and defeats Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong. Mario regains courage after seeing the brothers’ commercial, and Luigi bravely protects him from Bowser’s fire with a manhole cover. Together, Mario and Luigi grab the Super Star, become invincible, defeat Bowser’s army, and bring Bowser down. Peach shrinks Bowser with a Mini Mushroom, and Brooklyn celebrates the brothers as heroes.

## Chapter 8: A New Home in the Mushroom Kingdom

After the battle, Brooklyn was never quite the same.

There were broken streets to repair, strange stories to explain, and more than a few people who had to admit that the Super Mario Brothers were better plumbers than they had thought.

Mario and Luigi helped clean up.

So did the Toads.

So did the Kongs, though Donkey Kong’s idea of cleaning up sometimes involved smashing large pieces into smaller pieces and calling that progress.

Bowser, tiny and furious, was safely imprisoned. He still made threats, but they were harder to take seriously from inside a jar.

Peach thanked Mario and Luigi for saving both worlds.

Mario thanked her for helping him find Luigi.

Luigi thanked everyone several times and then thanked the ground for staying still.

The brothers’ parents found them in the crowd. Mario’s father looked at the broken street, the strange creatures, the princess, the Kongs, and his two sons in the middle of it all.

For once, he did not tell Mario his dream was too big.

He told him he was proud.

Mario had wanted to hear those words for so long that he did not know what to say at first.

Luigi did.

He hugged them both.

Even Spike had changed. He had seen enough to understand that Mario and Luigi were not jokes. They were heroes. More importantly, they were brothers who never gave up on each other.

When it was time to say goodbye, Donkey Kong tried to act casual. He and Mario had fallen from the sky, escaped a giant eel, crashed a wedding, and saved two worlds. That did not make them best friends, according to Donkey Kong.

It just made them very impressive rivals.

Mario accepted that.

Peach returned to the Mushroom Kingdom, where rebuilding had already begun. The Toads were safe. The castle stood. The kingdom still glowed with bright colors, strange paths, and impossible adventures waiting around every corner.

Mario and Luigi had a choice.

Brooklyn was their home.

But the Mushroom Kingdom had become home too.

In the end, the brothers found a way to belong to both. They moved into a house in the Mushroom Kingdom, ready to work as plumbers in a world where pipes could lead almost anywhere.

Their mornings changed.

Instead of waking to traffic and car horns, they woke to Toads calling outside, birds singing over mushroom trees, and the distant sound of blocks chiming in the sun.

Mario still checked his tools.

Luigi still checked whether the day looked dangerous.

It usually did.

But now Luigi smiled when he worried, because he knew something important.

He could be scared and brave at the same time.

Mario knew something too.

Being a hero did not mean proving everyone wrong all by yourself. It meant standing back up. It meant helping people. It meant trusting the ones who stood beside you.

And for Mario, the person beside him had always been Luigi.

One bright morning, the brothers stepped out together for a new plumbing job.

Mario grinned.

Luigi took a deep breath.

Somewhere in the distance, a pipe shimmered with mystery.

## Chapter 8 Summary

After Bowser is defeated, Brooklyn and the Mushroom Kingdom begin recovering. Mario and Luigi’s family, including their father, finally recognize their courage. Donkey Kong and Mario part as friendly rivals. The brothers move into a house in the Mushroom Kingdom and begin a new life as plumbers and heroes, ready for whatever adventure comes through the next pipe.
