The Lion and the Mouse — Source Background

Source status

  • User supplied the cover plus seven photographed story pages, including the opening, release, rescue, and closing moral.
  • The photographed set is sufficient to establish the story arc and visual language. Any unseen intermediate pages should be captured before a page-for-page production package is built.
  • This is a private production reference for an original, child-friendly adaptation—not a reproduction of the physical book.

Main characters

  • Lion: A large golden-brown lion with a dark brown mane, big paws, and an expressive, friendly face. He is powerful but learns humility and gratitude.
  • Mouse: A tiny gray mouse in a bright red jacket. The Mouse is brave, kind, and resourceful despite being small.
  • Hunters: Off-page antagonists represented by the rope net/trap; no need to make them visually prominent in an adaptation.

Setting and visual language

  • Woodland forest with pale purple-gray tree trunks, broad green leaves, stones, and small pink flowers.
  • Classic colored-pencil/soft-watercolor storybook look, thin dark outlines, orange-gold picture frames, and a gentle rather than frightening mood.
  • The lion's danger should feel urgent but not scary for a young child. The Mouse's rescue is the emotional high point.

Story arc confirmed by the supplied pages

  1. While a Lion sleeps in the forest, a small Mouse runs across his back.
  2. The Lion wakes, catches the Mouse, and considers swallowing him.
  3. The Mouse begs to be released and promises to help someday.
  4. The Lion laughs, but kindly lets the Mouse go.
  5. Hunters later trap the Lion with ropes and tie him to a tree.
  6. The Mouse finds him, gnaws through the ropes, and frees him.
  7. The Mouse reminds the Lion that little friends can do great things.

Adaptation guardrails

  • Generate original illustrations from the photos as references; never use phone-photo crops as the finished device art.
  • Preserve continuity: Lion = warm golden brown with dark mane; Mouse = tiny gray mouse in red jacket; quiet leafy forest with pink flowers.
  • Device art target: 320×240 landscape, no printed text inside artwork.
  • Narration should be warm and clear for Grace, with a gentle suspense beat at the trapped-lion scene and a joyful resolution.
  • Central lesson: size does not measure kindness, courage, or a person's ability to help.

Remaining source material needed for a complete page-by-page package

  • Any unphotographed intermediate pages and their printed captions
  • Author/publisher information, if the final package should include a source credit
  • Language choice: English only or an additional Spanish version
